Construction in the struggle for insurrectional organization

Toward what perspective is workers’ organization directed, considered from the autonomous point of view? Even recent attempts [October-November 1972] to agree at the national level on the construction of an autonomous workers’ organized reality, based on the example of Milan, have ended up in the party hypothesis, with precise and pre-established political directions.

Recuperation, in the authoritarian sense of these realities, was also contributed to by “Red Relief” [Soccorso Rosso], operating, precisely, as a minority racket, with the aim of passing off as an autonomous class decision what was instead a vertical political position. This confirms the need for a revolutionary organization that is really autonomous.

The different experiences in recent years, in factories, schools and neighborhoods have given negative results because of the imprecise and approximate relationship with the territory. There hasn’t been, in substance, an ability to surpass the sectoral limit, mending experience within the scope of the reality of the clash. Grave, for example, is the obstacle – and often a very grievous counter-position – between the productive and domestic areas within the same city.

Considered in the contrary sense, it is precisely within the territory that repressive and consensus-building action is found.

We therefore need to surpass the sectoriality and particularity of mass organisms that are born and die without being able to establish revolutionary contacts.

In this sense we can speak of the need for territorial structures, with a sufficiently unitary political indication.

The function of the State today is characterized by prevention, coordination of productive activities, integration of the defects of the capitalist project and control of the circulation of ideas and behaviors.

To attack the State requires a total strategy that passes through insurrection as an element in the development of the revolutionary process.

The task of the anarchist revolutionary is then that of constructing insurrectional organization through mass labour and tethering minimal structures of intervention to individual territorial realities.

It’s been stated that this much resembles a kind of universalization of the classic “security service.” Nothing could be more wrong. By the term “insurrection” we mean the creation, in the working class, of insurrectionary nuclei. This is possible only through a mass extension of the structures that exist, as of now, within the movement. To prepare for a military defense of the territory, for victory in the clash against the police and against the fascists.

This is the sense in which we speak of construction of insurrectionary organization in the struggle and in the territory.
