Black and Red Rags
For me, I take the black rag over the red rag because I refuse to spill my blood for the right to be a worker, and instead practice negativity against every parcel of the world we have known for generations.
The black rag represents fighting spirit, critical self-thought and innovative audacity. The red rag represents a conservative principle of Work taken to its most political extreme wherein workers own and police their own sorrow. The red rag means sacrifice for the re-constitution of sacrifice for the economy and politics. The black one cannot soundly be joined with the red.
The black rag represents the potent intellect of midnight fury which prefaces the vibrant dawn. The black rag represents that which is unrepresentable: self-ownership over body, mind and spirit; self-knowledge of one’s own unique perfection consistently being developed and refined according to self-will and enjoyment.
When I wear the black bandana on my person, I am signaling that I am a defiant, freethinking spirit; that I welcome all other spirits based on restless defiance to band together temporarily with me and create ruptures in the dominant facades of permanence called “Capitalism”, “State”, and so on.
When I am in the midst of revolt, and I see people wearing red bandanas in gatherings of individuals, I can safely bet that they will police my free actions at worst and try to sell me a newspaper subscription at best. I have no truck with them. Their allegiance to mere progressive conservative workerism will be incubating plans against me and those like me in the time that there is sufficient conflict with domination. When all is said and done, I will be faced with a new enemy touting the same old principle of Work Or Die but under a red banner.
The black rag worn or waving proudly signals the opposite of timidity, surrender and compromise. The black rag means negative rage aimed at everything that obstructs a full, self-owned life. And this applies to every actor conspiring against my unrestrained fullness.
