Shared with me to post from a comrade: At a DHS law enforcement job fair in Chantilly, Virginia, an actionist bloc entered expecting a familiar configuration. White institutional power recruiting itself. Instead, what appeared was something more revealing. A recruitment line disproportionately filled with Black and Brown job seekers, even as ICE escalates violence against Black, Latino, Haitian, Arab, and migrant communities nationwide. The tactic did not shift out of softness. It shifted out of clarity.
Empire no longer relies solely on white faces. It survives through incorporation, aspiration, and scarcity. It offers proximity to power as a substitute for dignity, a paycheck as a replacement for solidarity, and representation as cover for structural violence. This is how systems endure collapse. They recruit from the very communities they harm, then call it inclusion.
This is not a moral indictment of individuals. It is an analysis of material conditions. When housing, healthcare, safety, and stability are made scarce, enforcement becomes one of the few jobs that promises security. Empire manufactures this bind, then profits from the resulting compliance.
What threatens collective liberation is not critique. What threatens it is the normalization of Black and Brown bodies enforcing fascist policy, managing disappearance, and legitimizing violence through diversity optics. Whether through ICE, defense contractors, data surveillance firms, or consulting pipelines, the function is the same.
History is recording who built solidarity, and who accepted proximity to power instead.
You’re on the wrong side of history DHS ICE
An autonomous Actionist Bloc attended the DHS Law Enforcement job fair held in Chantilly, Virginia, with the plan to disrupt, but that quickly shifted.
So, what caused this shift in tactic?
The simple answer — the stark reality that Black and Brown people are some of the biggest agents of White Supremacy.
The longer answer — while embarrassing to admit, it’s important to share candidly for those in the movement to be accountable to ourselves, to develop the ability to critique our actions, and to use every moment to learn and grow. The action bloc entered the space expecting to stand out in a sea of white faces but was met with predominately Black and Brown people. This was unexpected considering the recent news of ICE escalatory violence against communities of color; particularly those from Latino/a and Haitian communities. How can these job seekers sign away not only their humanity, but their ancestral connection, to resistance against an empire for a paycheck? While the total number wasn’t confirmed, the event space typically can hold over 5,000 people with the guess of over 2,00 in attendance for the ICE fair.
Wave after wave — Black diaspora, continental african, latino/a, arab, southeast asian, east asian, Indian, Indigenous, Young folk, white women, hijabis (Arab, Pakistani, Black).
As White Supremacy promotes scarcity, Brown people fought for visibility. A latino man had verbally accosted some of the actionists when they walked in front of the ICE interview line. These actionists were still processing what was in front of them: It might be next to impossible to get Black and Brown bootlickers and class traitors to see that their battle isn’t to get a job working for the death squads in a dying empire, but to build class solidarity and deep relationship with those that oppose fascism.
Something to note — It is important to discuss whiteness and white people but there needs to be a real conversation for Black and Brown people and the roles in empire we occupy. There is a real need for actual accountability with our role in keeping empire alive. To look at the material conditions that have allowed us to become class traitors and bootlickers for the empire and maintain this illusion of “Black Excellence” and “Brown Excellence”. We need to drive into the notion that immigrants “Make It” once they get a fancy degree and fancy job working for a weapons company or consulting firm like Booz Allen Hamilton.
Especially as we see the marines deployed to Los Angeles, we need to really look at what representation means and how Black and Brown people continue to act as class traitors. As the empire collapses, we need actual solidarity for our collective future and deprogramming from this toxic Death Cult.
What threatens that?
Black and Brown faces as agents of empire that do the bidding of this fascist empire — be that with ICE, working for Palantir and other like companies, believing and parroting Zionist Hasbara, or simply moving in unprincipled and undisciplined ways.
